8 ways to find your center.
Have you ever had one of those days when your spirit feels tainted? So, you ever feel as if some grubby little grinch has left grimy smudges all over your inner peace? Sometimes this feeling can come from other people and their drama, and sometimes it can come from thoughts inside your head, and you find yourself poisoning your well. No matter where it stems, you must release negative energy as soon as you acquire it. So, here are some suggestions on how to reset your day and your life after being infected by bad energy.
1. Start Your Day with Fresh Veggie and Fruit Juice
When your spirit feels bogged down with crap, one of the worst things you can do is bog your body down more with heavy and unhealthy foods. Start your new day on the right foot with fresh-pressed vegetable and fruit juices to nourish your body while keeping your tummy light. A mixture of leafy green juices like kale and spinach will help move old waste through your body, while beet juice will deliver large doses of iron, feeding your red blood cells and helping produce oxygen.
2. Get Your Household Chores Done
Taking care of your home, making sure everything is clean and in its place, is a perfect way to ground yourself after feeling unsettled. Try burning incense, opening your windows, and washing your sheets and towels to start. When you feel sullied by the world around you, or even by your patterns and thought processes, start anew by cleaning the space around you. Make everything gleam, glimmer, and smell good. This will help you to recenter.
3. Fit in a Workout
The benefits of exercise are well known, such as the release of endorphins, health benefits for your heart and lungs, and the release of toxins from the body. Exercise is the perfect way to shed bad energy and recover when your spirit has been compromised. The good news is, you don’t have to run a marathon to receive the benefits of physical exercise. A minimum of 30 vigorous minutes will do. A brisk walk is just fine, and a quick 15-minute exercise using a workout app will do you some good. Whatever your method, get it done and release the drama of the day.
4. Take a Steamy Shower or Hot Bath
There is nothing more naturally soothing than the effects of hot water. When the events or thoughts of the day have left you feeling low, rely on the soothing sensation of hot water and steam to relieve and release some pressure. Take your time, add aromatherapy salts to your bath, or hang a few sprigs of eucalyptus in your shower. The bathroom is the only place where you can close the door, lock it, and be alone without seeming antisocial. Take full advantage!
5. Have Breakfast in Bed
There is something so juvenile about eating in bed, and during times of adult-sized stress, it’s nice to treat yourself to something you may have enjoyed as a kid. Eating a bowl of cereal in bed takes us back to Saturday morning cartoons and those little ice cream cups with the wooden spoons. So, on tough days when you need to find your center, do it with a big bowl of cereal and bananas with almond milk. Crawl back into bed, find something good to watch on TV, connect with your inner child, and rediscover your happiness.
6. Pamper Your Hands, Feet, and Face
Renewing yourself after you have been sullied by bad energy, or a series of unfortunate events, can take all day and several strategies. One of the most popular and foolproof strategies for recovering from icky feelings is a manicure, a pedicure, and a facial. And, depending on your circumstances or schedule, there’s no need to visit your local salon. Instead, use what you have at home to revamp your weary skin or ragged nails. Take the time to take care of yourself.
7. Make Dinner
Even and especially if you don’t know how to cook — make dinner! Take it one step further and make something you’ve never made or eaten. Think of something you’ve always wanted to taste or a dish your favorite TV chef once made. Watch food-centric channels, buy a cookbook, or search recipes online to get ideas, buy the ingredients you’ll need, and make something different! Cooking can be therapeutic and cathartic, especially if you include your significant other, kids, or friends.
8. Make Love
Seriously. When you’re having a stressful day or feel weighed down by heavy or stagnant energies, sex is a miracle worker. Naturally, sex is best when had with a trusted partner who loves you, who cherishes your mind and spirit more than your body. Take in your partner and let him/her ease the stress of an off-color day.
