It's About Cancer:
It is recommended that you check your skin, from head-to-toe, each month, in search of anything different or suspicious. It is also recommended that you see a dermatologist once a year for skin cancer screening. These recommendations are for any and everyone, no matter your age or skin tone. Melanin is not a surefire defense against sun damage or skin cancer.
If you do't have a dermatologist, you can find one is your area at AAD.org.
