5 Week Tweak: Week #2 –– Realign

Last week, our focus was on repairing ourselves by cutting the fat in our lives and getting back to what really matters. Cutting emotional, physical, electronic, personal, and professional clutter is absolutely necessary in order to quiet the mind, reorganize and compartmentalize our lives. This is a practice I perform each season, and I do it instinctively. Unfortunately, most people don’t do this. Instead, most people take on whatever comes, letting everything pile up over a series of weeks, months, and years, until it breaks them. This is why reparation is the first step in any shifting process.

Week #2: Realign

With all that clutter out the way, and with your mind free, the next step is to realign your mind, body, and spirit. This week, the focus is on…well…your focus! The spontaneity of life has a way of taking us off our mark, and the next thing we know, we are ridiculously far from where we should be. During this period of realignment, your job is to connect with yourself –– your spirituality, you drive, passion, core desires, purpose, and goals. This week, you are to stop trying so hard to make things happen, and instead, allow things to happen. You will be still. You will be quiet. And you will listen.

This Week’s Practice:

Take a second look at the current system you have in place, right now. Are there systems that are no longer working for you, and need improvement? Are there systems that are working or you, but can always be made better? Now is the time to realign yourself with your goals and the roads you’ll need to take to get there.

  • Take a short road trip that is sure to open up your chakras, clear your mind, and inspire creativity.

  • Sit in prayer, each night, and take the time to thank God for all He has one and continue to do; express gratitude, and ask specifically for what you need in order to be physically, emotionally, and financially healthy.

  • Throughout the day, take deep breaths, and move your fingers, toes, shoulders, and neck. Stretch and sigh…let go of the tension you’re holding

  • Get inside your planners and rework your schedule. Are you taking too much time of some things, and not enough time of others? Have you schedule adequate personal time (2 hours each and 4 hour blocks on the weekend)? Are you doing too much? Not enough? Figure it out and create new systems.

  • Do you need a shift in your work hours or your job? Now is the time to realign with your truest passions and your purpose. Work shouldn’t be just something you do for money –– that’s a horrible way to live. Working is how we live out our purposes in life. This is our life’s work. Align with the education or vocation that can deliver you from boredom or stagnation.

  • This is a great time to reevaluate all your relationships, and realign with love –– whether with your family, friends, or significant other. Anyone who doesn’t make you feel love, has to go!

  • During this time, keep your electronics on silent or Do Not Disturb, and spend more time within. This is the time for contemplation and planning, as you center yourself and realin to what and who is really important (and beneficial) to you.

  • Stop trying so hard. What is meant for you will come to you faster when you stop racking your brain about it. Do what needs to be done and do it with ease. Continue to pray and be grateful, stress-free, and still.
