Our 5th Annual Fourth Quarter Clean Up:
I can't believe it's been five years, already! Well, as I do every year, I am here to give you even more tips to help you clean up your life and tie up loose ends before the end of the year. Part of that clean up is going to include your makeup kit. Let's start with your mascara.
How Clean is it?
I have quite a few products from Tarte Cosmetics and I like the company overall. I switched to Tarte from the usual drug and department store brands during my quest for cleaner makeup. According to the Skin Deep® Cosmetics Database, Tarte's Lights, Camera, Splashes has a toxicity rating of 4 out of 10. Tarte has other mascara's that come in at a 3, but it is the waterproof aspect of this tube that hikes their rating up a number.
Further search of the database reveals that there are many waterproof choices with lowers scores from companies like Almay, Bare Minerals, and Revlon, all coming in low at a 2, while others from the same brands come in as high as a 10. Still, I chose this brand and type because of it's formula and brush.
Our lights, camera, splashes™ mascara could be considered a push-up bikini for your lashes—a 4-in-1 (lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning) plus it’s dermatologist-tested and clinically-proven to increase the appearance of lash volume after applying giving dramatic, thick and sexy lashes and guaranteed to stay put through rain, sweat or tears.
This quarter, as we prepare for the new year, take a closer look at the cosmetics and other everyday products you have been using and begin to replace the toxic ones with cleaner options, using the Cosmetics Database as a guide. To make it even easier, download the app and look up products before you buy them! Just scan the barcodes of products you are considering and get their rating! It's that easy to be informed.
