Instagram: An Ever Changing Vision Board

Self-care is more than pani-medi's and a girl's night in. Healthy living is more than eating a clean, organic diet, drinking three to four liters of water each day, and getting eight hours of sleep each night. Self-care and healthy living has just as much to do with the words you speak and hear, as well as the images and content you take into your mind. Negativity, gossip, arguing, rudeness, and foolishness prohibit your elevation, and will always prevent you from living your best life. So, if you haven't already, now is the time to cut the fat, and use your social media accounts as vision boards and mood lifters. For the intents and purposes of this article, we will focus on Instagram, since it is the most visual social media app, and has features that can help you organize your goals and stay focused.

What to Delete:

Scrolling through the list of accounts you follow, delete any account that is routed in gossip. This may include people you know who only sit around and talk about other people, as well as gossip rags and blog accounts that harp on negativity and fake news. Delete all accounts that showcase drama, arguments, physical fights, emotionally damaging images and language, "ghetto" or "ratchet" behavior, and the like. Delete anyone you do not know or speak to on a regular basis. Basically, delete everything and everyone that has nothing to do with you and does not grow you, and move you closer to living your best life.

What to Follow:

Replace those dead-end accounts with accounts focused on things, people, and places you love, and those that can get you closer to your dreams, goals, and focuses. Topics such as healthy food, clean and organic beauty, fitness, travel destinations, interior design and decor, homes, your dream car(s), and such. Follow the people and brands that post the ideas, tools, and information you need to keep you going in the right direction. Here are a few of my faves:

Building Your Vision Boards:

Now that you are following accounts that are made to inspire and teach, be sure to follow other suggested accounts that are similar to the ones you have chosen. With this cleaner, more inspirational Instagram feed, what you have is an ever-changing vision board! And to make this vision board even more focused, you can create a ton of folders in which to save your favorite posts. Here's how:


Look for this tab...

...and start building your boards!

 

  1. Hold down the SAVE tab on a photo, which you will find in the far right corner under the post. It looks just like the diagram you see here.
  2. As you hold down this tab, you will see an opportunity to start a folder and name it. So, give your folder a name, and in the future, you can place similar photos in this folder by repeating the first step.
  3. Each time you see a photo you want to save, you can create a new folder for it and photos like it, or add it to a correlating folder that already exists!
