Creating a Space for Him to Work

Creating a Space for Him to Work

Every home should have a work space, no matter how small. Personally, I am a huge fan of work hutches and other seamless ways to tuck away a work area when not in use, especially for smaller spaces without dedicated offices.

Even if you work outside the home and have a job that doesn't need to come home with you, running your home can be considered a business, with the balancing of bills, social gatherings, and decorating, of course! So, it's wise to have some where, other than the kitchen table to handle the business of running a home or a home office.

And What About Your Mate?

How lovely would it be for you to create a bit of space for him to work, as well? Maybe he has files he needs to work on over the weekend and, as much as he would love to spend time with you, he just can't find the time to do both. Well, if you plan your workspace around the sort of relationship you'd like to have and make room for the man in your life or the man you want in your life, he will come, he will sit, and he will stay.

Workspace Must-Haves:

A efficient workspace should have the following amenities:

  • WiFi
  • Printer
  • Scanner
  • Copier
  • Copy paper
  • Notebooks
  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Hiliters
  • Markers
  • Colored pencils
  • Organizational trays
  • Envelopes (several sizes)
  • Hole punch
  • Index Cards
  • Post-Its (several sizes and colors)
  • Glue/glue sticks
  • Rulers
  • And, basically, anything you used from grade school through college

For many men, their careers and ability to provide for themselves and their future families are the cornerstone of their security. Many times, women have a difficult time understanding why our men work so hard and find ourselves complaining about those late nights at the office that afford us the luxury of never having to worry about from where our next meal or mortgage payment is coming. Whether we enjoy a two-income household or staying home and raising children or homemaking, a man's ability to work makes all the difference in our finances and in our relationships with them.

When a man sees that you are considerate of his need to work after hours and during the weekends, you show him that you support his drive and that everything isn't about you or the two of you spending dedicated time together.

Make a comfortable place for your love interest to work and encourage him to stop by after the job to finish up last minute details while you pull together dinner. Create a scene that lets him know what his life could be like if the two of you took your relationship to the next level and, hopefully, you will!
